How it works
- Download the launcherA single file. No installer wizard, no toolbars, no parrots.
- Run itIt unpacks itself, then fetches the game. Updates arrive as small patches.
- Press SET SAILName your pirate, commission their look, and take to the water.

Before you cast off
Windows says it "protected my PC"
The launcher isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn't know it. Choose More info → Run anyway. Every file the launcher downloads is checked against a SHA-256 fingerprint from our server.
Where does it install?
Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Blackwater Tides. Linux: ~/.local/share/blackwater-tides. You can pick another folder in the launcher's settings.
Do I need an account to play?
You need one to download, and it's free. Your pirate's progress is saved on your own computer.
How do I sail with friends?
From the title screen, Join a Crew with the address blackwatertides.com, or have one friend host and share their IP.
